Women Entrepreneurs
The 2007-08 Think Tank on Women Entrepreneurs is working to implement the 2006 Think Tank Recommendations.
The next Think Tank meeting will be in January 2008. Participants will review new research from Clemson University, plan advocacy efforts for a micro-loan system, and identify women-owned businesses to include in a new growth program, Make Mine a Million.
A key issue for this Think Tank in 2008 will be establishing and funding a micro-loan system for South Carolina women entrepreneurs. For more, read this case for funding micro-loans in our state.
South Carolina is the only state without a comprehensive micro-loan system. Creating one has been part of The Alliance's 2007 Legislative Agenda for Women. We are proud to announce that our partner, the State Chamber of Commerce, has added developing a micro-loan system to their 2008 legislative agenda.
